The SDGs are designed as a continuation of the Millennium Development Goals, which were defined in 2000 by the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>Politecnica wants to contribute to the achievement of 6 of these objectives, which have at their heart the well-being of the human community by designing people-friendly works:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"black-sec first-black\">\n<div class=\"contenitore\">\n<div class=\"claims\">\n<div class=\"claim-left\">SDGs3 &#8211; Good health and well-being<\/div>\n<div class=\"claim-right\">We carry out works that can guarantee access to essential quality healthcare services thanks to our experience in complex projects.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Our designers create health and hospital facilities that are efficient and users-friendly. They are public works that <strong>serve citizens and communities<\/strong>, which we design to have the best possible environments for patients and which are, at the same time, functional to allow operators to carry out their work in the best possible way.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sdgs-section\">\n<div class=\"futuro futuro-alternativo sdgs-blocks\">\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-1\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>Our experience in healthcare to serve Covid emergencies<\/h2>\n<h3>National Intensive Care Hub &#8211; Modena and Baggiovara Hospitals<\/h3>\n<p>Two new facilities to support Modena and Baggiovara Hospitals, with a <strong>total of 48 beds<\/strong>, built in compliance with the latest health standards based on <strong>safety, responsiveness and technology<\/strong>. We have worked with the local authorities to adapt the two existing hospital facilities not only to respond to the Covid-19 health emergency but also to increase their capacity for care in the future.<br \/>\nThe integrated design approach, based on the use of <strong>BIM technology<\/strong>, was fundamental for the construction of two &#8220;additional&#8221; modular hubs, <strong>connected at strategic points<\/strong> to the main buildings to allow the reorganisation and optimal exchange of internal flows, in terms of accessibility, logistics, use of equipment and facilities, services and staff operations.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"leggi-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politecnica.it\/en\/progetti\/national-intensive-care-hubs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover the project<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fut-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/annual-report-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Hub-nazionali-di-terapia-intensiva-\u2013-Ospedali-di-Modena-e-Baggiovara.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-2\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>Redesigning healthcare buildings for today&#8217;s challenges<\/h2>\n<h3>New &#8220;Felettino&#8221; Hospital &#8211; La Spezia<\/h3>\n<p>A major hospital redevelopment project with <strong>8 floors and 506 beds<\/strong>, designed in the name of energy and technological innovation, according to the principles of <strong><em>circular design<\/em><\/strong> to meet the highest standards of efficiency, functional flexibility and user comfort.<br \/>\nThe <strong>strategic redesign<\/strong> of the building, in public-private synergy, was modulated with an increase in the number of high- and medium-intensity care beds to <strong>cope with the Covid-19 pandemic<\/strong> and provide a state-of-the-art, constantly updated health service, capable of adapting to the future challenges of the health system.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"leggi-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politecnica.it\/en\/progetti\/new-felettino-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover the project<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fut-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/annual-report-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Nuovo-Ospedale-Felettino-\u2013-La-Spezia.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"white-sec\">\n<div class=\"contenitore\">\n<div class=\"claims\">\n<div class=\"claim-left\">SDGs4 &#8211; Quality education<\/div>\n<div class=\"claim-right\">We design facilities with all the functional and architectural features for efficient and inclusive teaching.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Providing quality, equitable and inclusive education and learning opportunities for all.<\/strong><br \/>\nAccess to free, equitable and quality education is primarily a matter of design, which Politecnica develops, interweaving technical elements and social objectives. The design takes <strong>into account the needs of gender equality, disabilities and of the interactivity concepts of the groups of students<\/strong> to design stimulating, safe, educational and inclusive learning environments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sdgs-section\">\n<div class=\"futuro futuro-alternativo sdgs-blocks\">\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-1\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>Innovative and sustainable buildings for better didactics<\/h2>\n<h3>New Teaching Pavilion &#8211; Enzo Ferrari Engineering Campus, Modena<\/h3>\n<p>Since 1995 we have been responsible for many of the development and expansion phases of the &#8220;Enzo Ferrari&#8221; Engineering Campus in Modena on behalf of UNIMORE &#8211; University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Our most recent work, after winning the international design competition organized by the University, involved us in the construction of the new Teaching Pavilion.<br \/>\n<strong>High technology and energy-efficient environmental systems<\/strong> combine perfectly with functional and aesthetic requirements, in a new structure for 1200 students with a strong urban vocation. The Pavilion will transform and characterize the connective space of the Campus, creating a new access with outdoor spaces for events and a square to <strong>encourage<\/strong> users to <strong>meet and socialize<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"leggi-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politecnica.it\/en\/progetti\/new-teaching-pavilion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover the project<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fut-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/annual-report-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Nuovo-Padiglione-didattico-\u2013-Campus-di-Ingegneria-Enzo-Ferrari-di-Modena.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-2\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>Technology and modularity serving the research<\/h2>\n<h3>Educational laboratories and Technology Centre &#8211; Verona<\/h3>\n<p>A new building to <strong>guarantee larger, modular, welcoming and inclusive spaces<\/strong> for research and teaching: this is the main target of our intervention in the &#8220;C\u00e0 Vignal&#8221; Science and Technology Hub on the University Campus of Verona, for which we have built 6 new laboratories for about 270 people, <strong>4 new equipped classrooms<\/strong> and an <strong>Aula Magna<\/strong> for 280 people.<\/p>\n<p>The intervention was carried out entirely by BIM, including the implementation of a <strong>BIM Execution Plan<\/strong>, discussed and shared by all project stakeholders: an advanced application tool provided to the University for the maintenance and management of future interventions on the complex buildings, in order to adapt them, through innovative and sustainable solutions, to the continuous evolution of the demands from users and scientific research.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"leggi-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politecnica.it\/en\/progetti\/laboratories-and-technology-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover the project<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fut-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/annual-report-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Laboratori-didattici-e-Centro-Tecnologico-\u2013-Verona.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"black-sec\">\n<div class=\"contenitore\">\n<div class=\"claims\">\n<div class=\"claim-left\">SDGs5 &#8211; Gender equality<\/div>\n<div class=\"claim-right\">Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Here, women and men design together<\/strong>.<br \/>\nOne of our goals is to <strong>design public and private environments in which the principle of Gender Equality is respected and the values of social and economic inclusiveness are promoted<\/strong>. Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but the necessary condition for a prosperous, sustainable and peaceful world. For this reason, we promote the representation of women in our decision-making and management processes and act as their spokesperson within our sector and beyond. We design together by crossing different genders\u2019 insights for a more effective impact on society.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sdgs-section\">\n<div class=\"futuro futuro-alternativo sdgs-blocks\">\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-1\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>Support to AIW &#8211; Association for the Integration of Women<\/h2>\n<p>Politecnica has chosen to support AIW, a social promotion association specifically helping young migrant women in economically and socially disadvantaged conditions, for the realization of the <strong>&#8220;Roots&#8221;<\/strong> project.<br \/>\nWithin the <strong>San Paolo Complex in Modena<\/strong>, one of Politecnica&#8217;s main restoration projects, we have made available pro-bono to the Association the design of two premises for the creation of a restaurant and a co-working space, with the aim of encouraging job placement and creating social connections, creating a reference point for the community, a place for exchange, sharing and integration.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"leggi-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politecnica.it\/news\/politecnica-a-supporto-di-aiw-association-for-the-integration-of-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover the project<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fut-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/annual-report-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Sostegno-a-AIW-\u2013-Association-for-the-Integration-of-Women.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-2\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>Initiating the gender audit process<\/h2>\n<p>Politecnica is in the process of carrying out a gender audit in order to put in place a methodology to assess and certify gender equality according to international scientific standards. Politecnica adopts the best technologies and design solutions that assure access to more efficient energy services in this transition between the mix of sources. For us, it is a <strong>constant working method, an integrated approach, to search for design solutions providing for convenient, reliable and modern energy services<\/strong>. This is why we operate by integrating expertise, research and sharing with stakeholders, seeking to optimize synergies and contributing to the technological, social and environmental development of the place. Knowledge transfer between disciplines, professionals, generations and cultures is for us a working method based on reciprocity, which is particularly important in developing countries, but generally essential to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the result.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sdgs-section\">\n<div class=\"futuro futuro-alternativo sdgs-blocks\">\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-1\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>New infrastructures to foster social connections<\/h2>\n<h3>New Bridge over the Arno &#8211; Fibbiana<\/h3>\n<p>Planning a road infrastructure in <strong>harmony with the natural landscape and aware of the urban fabric<\/strong> where it will be inserted is a challenge that today cannot neglect the characteristic relational networks of the place.<br \/>\nThis intervention, which connects the two banks of the Arno including the construction of a cycle\/pedestrian path with a total length of 2 km, integrates into an existing <strong>slow mobility system<\/strong>, innovating the area without neglecting its peculiarities, social connections and community needs. In our working method the study phase of these places becomes essential, even before the design, in order to create not only intelligent spaces and eco-infrastructures, but also opportunities for socio-economic growth and strengthening of urban resilience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sdgs-section\">\n<div class=\"futuro futuro-alternativo sdgs-blocks\">\n<div class=\"futuro-flex futuro-alt futuro-flex-1\">\n<div class=\"fut-left\">\n<h2>Participatory planning for new cultural destinations<\/h2>\n<h3>Ex Montezemolo Barracks &#8211; Cuneo<\/h3>\n<p>One of the most important post-war urban planning interventions for the city of Cuneo, our <strong>renovation of the 32,600<\/strong> square metres of municipal property in the former Montezemolo Barracks was designed according to the criteria of <strong>participatory urban planning<\/strong>, with the involvement of the inhabitants and schools in the neighbourhood, to <strong>give the city back an open, green area<\/strong> with an important cultural vocation.<br \/>\nThe former barracks will host a <strong>&#8220;territory hub&#8221;<\/strong> dedicated to the discovery of the city&#8217;s historical and tourist offer, and the area will be equipped for events.
