Our commitment to the Global Agenda<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

We have chosen to contribute to the achievement of the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda<\/strong> and outlined a roadmap of specific initiatives to pursue sustainable development<\/strong>, drawing inspiration from all those issues that have a direct impact on people’s well-being and social development.
\nOur way towards 2030 continues and becomes even more of a priority to meet the challenges arising from the Covid-19<\/strong>
\npandemic, in a scenario of discontinuity that finds us committed to consolidating our concrete contribution, oriented by the values of responsibility and solidarity that distinguish us.

Politecnica is a woman<\/h2>\n

We are committed to increasingly empowering women in internal positions and functions, promoting their representation within our sector.<\/p>\n

We have set the goal of achieving full numerical parity of our People by 2030, split 50-50 between women and men: in 2020, 47% of our people are women, versus 43% the year before, with full equal pay<\/strong>.
\nWe facilitate the reconciliation of our people’s family life with their working and professional life<\/strong> thanks to a company supplementary agreement providing for flexible entry and exit times and for smart working for 100% of the working time. We have also accepted all requests for part-time work from our members and employees.<\/p>\n

Since 2018, our company supplementary agreement has incorporated the protocol adopting whistleblowing as a reporting system against harassment and violence in the workplace<\/strong>. In 2019<\/strong>, we launched a training course for<\/strong> members, employees and collaborators on these topics, in collaboration with the CGIL union and the association Gruppo Donne e Giustizia, Women and Justice group.<\/p>\n

We promote gender inclusion and equality through our projects, supporting the women of the territories and communities we operate in, through sharing skills and resources: this is why in 2020 we chose to support AIW – Association for the Integration of Women<\/strong>, a social promotion association that supports in particular young migrant women in economically and socially disadvantaged conditions, in the implementation of the “Roots”<\/strong> project.<\/p>\n

Within the Saint Paul Complex in Modena<\/strong>, one of Politecnica’s main restoration projects, we have made two rooms available pro-bono to the Association for the creation of a restaurant and a co-working space, with the aim of encouraging job placement and creating social connections, creating a reference point for the community, a place for exchange, sharing and integration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Transfer of knowledge to developing countries<\/h2>\n

As we move towards 2030, we plan to implement several initiatives to share know-how and technical expertise<\/strong> with partners and customers in all the projects we are involved in around the world, to contribute to the development of professional knowledge through training sessions, exchange of expertise between designers and on-site training modules.<\/p>\n

We provide knowledge transfer sections on the most innovative topics in design.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In our projects in Belize and Guyana, we gave the client the opportunity to participate in our field investigations so to carry out an ‘interactive’ knowledge transfer with sessions on road conditions, topographic and geotechnical surveys as well as road safety investigations.
\nIn early 2021, we organized training sessions for engineers and architects from Guyana’s Ministry of Public Works on the use of special software for analyzing the economic and transport feasibility of infrastructure projects and road safety, along with a virtual workshop in Belize on the topic of resilience of infrastructure works against climate change.<\/p>\n

In 2020 we promoted two digital workshops entitled “Knowledge Sharing without borders” “Architecture & Engineering for Covid-19 proof Hospitals: the Italian experience”, to share Politecnica’s Italian project experience regarding the Covid-19 health emergency with the National Order of Engineers and Architects of Belize and Jamaica, the International Financial Institutions for the Caribbean and the National Health Authorities. This initiative of technical and professional solidarity, which was highly appreciated by the beneficiaries, aimed at transforming the difficult pandemic situation experienced in Italy into an opportunity to make practices available, create connections and provide useful tools to tackle the emergency in fragile environments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The future is in the hands of young people<\/h2>\n

We are an intergenerational company and one of our strengths is the continuous inclusion of young professionals among our Staff: in the last three years we have started about 100 new collaborations with professionals under 40<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We do care for professional development, being aware of its potential role in the interested area and the Italian professional scene. We are investing in people and training, with the purpose of creating a working method focused on collaboration<\/strong>, multidisciplinarity<\/strong> and the management of complexity<\/strong> that is clear and comprehensible to the new resources, who will contribute to enhancing Politecnica’s consolidated experience with their innovative contents and digital skills.<\/p>\n

We constantly cooperate with several vocational training schools, technical institutes and universities. In 2020, we collaborated with the Universities of Florence, Genoa, Molise, Naples, Padua, Parma, Perugia, Pisa, Milan, Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Modena, San Marino, IUAV Venice, Ferrara for the activation of 17 curricular and extra-curricular procedures and sections (post-graduate traineeships), 14 of which resulted in an actual working collaboration between Politecnica and the new graduate\/student.<\/p>\n

By 2030, we envisage to set up the “Politecnica Academy”<\/strong>, which will promote initiatives to:
\na) Contribute to the training of young vocational school resources;
\nb) Developing vocational training through stages and direct experience in the international projects in which the company is engaged;
\nc) Start collaborations with a leading Italian university to support the development of a doctoral programme in BIM technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
