The group led by Politecnica, with Park Associati and AMDL CIRCLE, in architectural co-leadership, and Studio Mattioli, wins the design competition promoted by the Municipality of Ceto, with the scientific coordination of Imago directed by Luca Molinari, for the construction of the new cultural hub in Ceto, a new gateway to Valle Camonica and the Valle dei Segni.
The project will rise within the premises of the historic former Niggeler & Kupfer spinning mill, transforming the disused industrial complex into an open infrastructure capable of connecting cultural heritage, landscape and community.
More than the regeneration of a single building, the proposal looks at the territory as a whole: the new hub becomes the starting point for a network of routes linking archaeology and the natural landscape, in a place marked by the extraordinary presence of the Pitoti, the prehistoric rock carvings of Valle Camonica.
Their layered presence in the rock becomes the matrix of the project, giving shape to an architecture deeply rooted in the materiality and morphology of the territory.
The hub will integrate exhibition spaces, areas dedicated to research, an auditorium and visitor reception services, contributing to the enhancement of a territory that hosts the first Italian site recognised as UNESCO World Heritage in 1979, and that has launched its candidacy as Italian Capital of Culture 2029.
