Fort Charlotte, Grenadines: restoration of a historical site

28 July 2022

Politecnica has opened its first Caribbean branch in Kingstown, where it is carrying out the Design and Works Supervision of the Restoration of Fort Charlotte. The Fort, built by the British at the end of the 18th Century, stands 200 m above sea level.

The Restoration Project, assigned to Politecnica by the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadies, is part of the “Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Regional Tourism Competitiveness Project”, funded by the World Bank.

In the OECS, tourism is the main driver of economic growth and Fort Charlotte represents an outstanding cultural icon in the tourism landscape, whose restoration will create a more vibrant and captivating historical attraction.
