Lamborghini Automobili new production site located in Sant'Agata Bolognese
The complexity of the production process set up from the very beginning a steady and timely line of discussion with experts and suppliers of process technologies, responding to the needs of the customer, operating in compliance with the many regulations and constraints characterizing this type of industrial process, painting in the automotive context.
As part of the expansion of Lamborghini Automobili historic manufacturing site, located in Sant'Agata Bolognese, the project was developed in an integrated and multidisciplinary manner by designing the new production unit intended for painting shells and components. The complexity of the production process imposed from the first stages of concept study a continous and punctual work of analysis and translation of technological and logistic needs.
The thorough multidisciplinary development performed Politecnica allowed Lamborghini to combine craftsmanship and digitization within its new Paint Shop. The new technologies introduced in the production cycle are all inspired by the concept of Industry 4.0 where modularity, flexibility and maximum customization are the keywords of the new development model.
The new Paint Sshop, simple and linear in shape, brings out the distinctive elements of the brand through a precise use of colour and geometry, fitting within the context of the entire production site as a contemporary emergence.
The complex consists of a main volume composed of two parallelepipeds juxtaposed with ribbon finishes, and two smaller buildings that allow the entrance of the shells, in addition to the two exterior stairwells that, with their diagonal cut, define the main front facing the street axis.
Functionally, there is a clear separation between production areas, offices and technical areas. Large spaces are dedicated to the automotive painting process. Inside the plant, craftsmanship and digitalization are combined, the new technologies are inspired by the concept of Industry 4.0 where modularity, flexibility and maximum customization are the keywords of the new development model.
A composition of volumes and materials is recognizable in the architectural result, the tailor-made attention to details. This was the approach that made it possible to meet the aesthetic demands of the client.
Special attention was paid to consumption and the environment. In the energy-rated A1 building, it was necessary to integrate the pre-existing Energy Hub through the introduction of high-efficiency elements such as 3 3MW condensing chiller units to produce chilled water.
Special attention to energy consumption and impact on the environment completes the intervention. Inside the energy-rated A1 building, the pre-existing energy hub was supplemented with high-efficiency elements, such as water-condensed chiller units with magnetic levitation tower for heat production and cooling.
All through the design and construction management stages, the listening and discussion line with experts and process technology suppliers was never broken, thus meeting the Client's needs and complying with applicable regulations and constraints.
