The complex is located near the historical centre of Modena. The project target is to enhance the cultural, historical and tourist heritage of the area, Enzo Ferrari, and the motor industry culture. The Birthplace has undergone scientific restoration, aimed at maintaining its material integrity and ensuring the conservation and protection of its cultural values. Inside it, you can time-travel to the era of great challenges and passion for speed.

The Gallery is adjacent to the restoration work, featuring the now famous customised aluminium bonnet as a roof.

The exhibition gallery is the project focus; the yellow colour chosen for the roof symbolizes the city of Modena and the background of the Cavallino, the little horse, the company's trademark. The new building expresses all of Enzo Ferrari's passion for the future, through industrial processes testing. The double-curved roof in polished painted aluminium and the façade, which also has a complex curved geometry with curved brise-soleils and a polished metal façade-edge, are the elements that communicate the car design and radiator grille concept. The roof consists of 3300 square metres of extruded aluminium slats with double curvature, representing a large-scale record, also thanks to a patent for on-site assembly.

The entire museum complex has been designed to be highly energy-saving and environmentally sustainable, as it is based on bioclimatic principles and built with state-of-the-art materials and systems solutions. A geothermal system has also been planned with the application of vertical geothermal probes to power the radiant air-conditioning systems.
