The New Padua East Hospital Complex is located in the eastern side of the city of Padua, of San Lazzaro district, connected to the province and the city of Padua by multimodal road infrastructure. More than 200,000 square meters, about 144,000 of which dedicated to health care and support functions - with 963 planned beds, 58 primary physicians in service - and over 24,000 for research and teaching.

Advanced, welcoming and a landmark for the community, based on an environment-oriented design, focused on the fluidity of relationships with the surrounding landscape: this is how the new Hospital of Padua keeps the social and environmental spheres in balance. Underlying this is an awareness of the constraints of the territorial system, the problems specific to the project area, and the green or anthropized areas. A research tower with several laboratories will be connected to the departments, to make the results of analyses immediately available. In the central plate, an "organ factory" will host avant-garde technologies for transplants, in the Hospital of Padua or in other facilities.

The hospital will feature high-tech specialty making it a cutting-edge project and a national hub. In consideration of the strategic value of the new hospital hub, extending to an extra-regional area, it will be equipped with: a heliport for emergency medical interventions, a vertiporto, 40 operating rooms, 280 clinics, 12,000 square meters of laboratories. The sanitary equipment is completed by spaces for automated logistics, including pharmaceutical: vertical silos, pneumatic distribution, AGV and RGV, PTS, in addition to changing rooms, cabinets and fully automated drug distributors.

With proper plant sizing and smart home automation, operating costs will be reduced to obtain a NZEB building (Nearly Zero Energy Building). Photovoltaic technologies integrate on-site energy production with heat provided by the San Lazzaro waste-to-energy plant. Tower bodies developed in height minimize land use and preserve large permeable areas. To supplement this, additional green surfaces are provided on part of the roofs for the collection and subsequent use of rainwater.
