UN Global Compact Network Italia: Alessio Gori SDG Pioneer Italy 2024 Award

Alessio Gori of Politecnica Ingegneria ed Architettura is an Italian corporate sustainability pioneer for 2024. Awarding the prize is the United Nations Global Compact through the Italian round of the SDG Pioneers competition. The competition, now in its eighth edition, aims to identify and reward the business leaders most committed to advancing the 2030 Agenda and its 17 SDGs.

Alessio Gori, Associate Civil Engineer and Project Manager of Politecnica Ingegneria ed Architettura-one of Italy's leading integrated design companies-was selected in the “Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises” category for his contribution in the construction of the new Coastal Highway in Belize. Inaugurated in 2023, this 58-kilometer road artery not only improved the road system, but also protected the environment and safeguarded the surrounding coastal areas and forests through the use of advanced soil stabilization technologies and construction methods.

“I believe that the real frontier of sustainability today is no longer related to technological innovation, but active participation, whereby the individual naturally returns as the fulcrum from which to originate the right business actions"- commented Alessio Gori of Politecnica Ingegneria ed Architettura upon receiving the award. “In order not to fail resoundingly in this epochal challenge, we must trigger a chain reaction that only dialogue, confrontation and collaboration can make possible.
