Palazzo Mercalli Milan

In the heart of Milan, Politecnica has overseen the restoration and repurposing of Palazzo Mercalli, transforming the building into a new administrative and academic hub for Università degli Studi di Milano.

Through a design approach based on subtraction and integration, the project enhances the building’s original identity without compromising its heritage, focusing on graffito-decorated facades, ornamental elements, and historic flooring.

A project that brings historical heritage and new functional needs into dialogue across over 7,000 sqm: Palazzo Mercalli is a protected building currently undergoing LEED® Gold certification.
